Good Times and Great Oldies -
Froggy 94.7!
Erie, Pennsylvania
Froggy 94.7 debuted in August, 1993, as Erie's first "Oldies" station. Beginning in a makeshift closet/studio
while construction was completed, the station was located on the 2nd floor of the WJET-TV building on upper Peach Street.
Attracting a wide-ranging audience, Froggy provided the Erie community with random "Frog Hops" at Rainbow Gardens, showcased
great oldies bands with The Roots of Rock and Roll at the Warner Theater, and attracted the attention of people for miles
with a 15-foot inflatable frog mascot.
Over time, the "point-7" was dropped from the moniker, then reinstated, and the studio was moved to the Boston Store
location on State Street.
Finally, Froggy 94.7's Oldies format become no more in January, 2007, as the station was switched to the "Bob"
format.
